24th january 2011 - the 3 eyed ailen


ok got the wool looked out, the crochet hook, my daughters toy as a guide, lets go, cant find a green though only a light green may look ok

worked continuously (unless otherwise stated) so mark each row with a coloured thread. using DK or worsted weight wool and a 3mm hook usa c or d and using blue
1: ch5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc next 2, work 3 sc in next, working on other side of the ch, sc next 2, work 2sc in next. join 10 sc
2: ch1 (dont count this as a st) *sc 4, 3sc in next* rep 14 sc
3: * sc 6, 3sc in next* rep 18 sc
4: sc 7, 3sc in next, sc 8, 3sc in next, sc 1, 22sc. turn st st back into next 2sts so that your at the corner or edge,  of work, turn
5: working in back loops this row only, sc
6 - 7: sc in each
8: sc7, [sc2tog] 4 times, sc7. 18sc
9: sc 6 [sc2tog] 3 times, sc6. 15sc
10: sc in each, join, fasten off
repeat for other foot but dont fasten off
leg
1: place both feet together from back holding sides together, working through both feet work 4sc (this will be the crotch) sc 11 around right foot, sc 11 round left foot


2: sc 6, *2sc in next, 2sc in next,sc 6, * rep, 26sc, join break off blue. join lt blue to back of work
body
1: ch1 sc in same st, sc3, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, sc 14, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, sc4. 30 sc
stuff feet
2: sc in each
3: sc 7, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, sc12, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, sc 7, 34sc
4 - 7: sc in each, join in blue
8-9: sc each in blue, break off blue continue in lt blue
10 - 13: sc in each
14: you need to work the 2tog at the sides so find the sides, i was a bit off centre so had to do the following
sc 9, 2sc tog, 2sc tog, sc 12, 2sc tog, 2sc tog, sc5, break off blue join purple. 30sc
stuff.
with orange or yellow wool and a darning needle, sew/embroider a circle with a semi circle through the centre and little dots, this makes the planet

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE HEAD COMING TOMORROW
tuesday morning, i was too tired to type up the neck and head part so as promised here we go.

neck
using purple
15 - 16: sc in each
17: working in front loops only, sl st all around. this makes a wee roll neck. fasten off

head
with lt green, join center back in unworked loops of row 17 of neck.

2: sc6, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, sc 13, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, sc 7. 34sc
3: sc 7, [2sc in next] 3 times, sc 13, [2sc in next] 3 times, sc 8. 40sc
4: sc 18, join dk green, sc 2 dk g, 20sc lt g.
5: sc17 lt g, sc4 dk g, sc 20 lt g.
6: as 4. break off dk g.
7:sc
8: sc 8, [2sc tog] 3 times, sc 14, [2sc tog] 3 times, sc 6. 34sc
9: sc 7, [2sc tog] 3 times, sc 10, [2sc tog] 3 times, sc 5
10: sc 6, [2sc tog] twice, sc 10,  [2sc tog] twice, sc 4.
11: sc5,  [2sc tog] twice, sc 8,  [2sc tog] twice, sc3.

fasten off. stuff, join each side leaving 3 sts at centre front and centre back. the antenna will be worked here

coming next the ears, antenna, arms and eyes. will work on this in the late morning and afternoon and post as i go...

ears - make two, turn end of each row - the ch1 counts as 1sc
lt green, ch3, sc in 2nd ch and next. 2sc
1: ch1, sc1
2: ch1 sc in same st, 2sc in next. 4sc
3: ch1, sc in same st, sc 2, 2sc in next. 6sc
4: ch1, sc in same st, sc 4, 2sc in next. 8sc
5 - 7: sc in each
8: ch1, sc2tog, sc 3, sc2 tog. 6sc
9: ch1, sc2tog, sc1, sc 2 tog. 4sc
10: sc in each
11: sc 2 tog, sc 2 tog.
12: ch1, sc 1. fasten off leaving a long length. oversew all around the outer edge of the ear, folding ear in half a the bottom sew tog and to side of head.

antenna
rejoin wool to the 6 sts at top of head. ch1, sc in same st, sc5. dont count ch1 6sc
1 - 6: sc in each
7:  2sc in next, sc 2, 2 sc in next, sc 2
8 - 9: sc in each
10: 2sc tog all around. fasten off, you may want to push a wee bit of stuffing down using a pencil or needle or insert a pipe cleaner.  sew in any ends.

im stopping for lunch now, so back later..

eyes - make three
with black ch2, sc 4 into 2nd ch, break black join in white
ch1, 2sc in each. fasten off, sew in ends. position and sew onto head

arms and hands

with lt blue ch 12, join, ch1
1: sc in each. 12sc
2 - 8: sc in each
9: join end of row 8, sl st in front loops all around to make a wee roll sleeve. break off blue join lt green.
10: work in unworked loops of row 9, sc in each
11: sc in each
12: sc 10, 2sc in next, 2sc in next, join 14sc
fingers
13: ch1 sc 3, turn
14 - 15: ch1 sc 3,turn.fold finger together and sl st edges together down to next st in row 11
2nd finger
1- 9 ch1, sc 2. turn. fasten off at last row. fold over top to bottom and sew to other side of hand
join wool to next st of row 11
3rd finger
1 - 4: ch1, sc 3. fasten off fold together and sew along edges. sew in any ends.

ok finished. not too bad i think i will work on another, will go to the shop for proper colour green, and make him a bit fatter i think..... and next idea, think the itv/pg tips monkey crochet pattern. i know you can get a knitting pattern but crochet?
